Smith, Roger Duane
Roger Duane "Zeke" Smith was a former NFL player and winner of the Outland Trophy. Born on June 3, 1935, Smith started playing football in high school. In 1955, Smith entered Auburn University, where he joined Alabama Beta Chapter. He quickly became a collegiate football star, helping Auburn win the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s national football championship in 1957. In 1958, Smith received the Outland Trophy, an award given to the best college football interior lineman. 

After his graduation in 1959, Smith was drafted into the NFL, playing first for the Baltimore Colts and then the New York Giants. From 1962 to 1963, he was drafted into the Canadian Football League (CFL). Smith was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1982. 

After his career as a professional football player, Smith had a 30-year career at Consolidated Pipe and Supply. He passed away on July 22, 2016.
